DIM SUM DUCK - As the name might suggest, this restaurant allows you to indulge in some of the best authentic Chinese food around. Bite into their famous Xiaolongbao, with its delicate wrapper filled with delicious pork mince and surrounded by the most flavoursome umami broth that coats your mouth, bringing an explosion of flavour to your tongue. This restaurant is BYOB which helps when dining on a budget. Make sure to book ahead as their 10 tables fill up fast.
ROTI KING - This small and unassuming family-run Malaysian restaurant may just become one of your favourite places to eat in London. Serving freshly made Roti, served alongside Curry Dhal for as little as £5, and Malaysian classics like Nasi Goreng, this hidden gem regularly sees queues out the door. Like DSD, this too is a BYOB restaurant.
THENGA CAFÉ - Situated in the heart of Kings Cross, this friendly café serves up flavoursome Vegan Indian dinners, fresh cakes and pastries for an affordable price. Try their Vegan Mango Lassi or experience the authentic Indian flavours of their Dosa Wraps whilst sipping down a freshly brewed Masala Chai.
MORTY & BOB’s - Tucked under the brick arches at the Coal Drops Yard, discover the legendary Grilled Cheese Sandwiches filled with M&B’s top-secret signature cheese sauce. This all-day café/bar serves an excellent selection of comfort food, coffee, fresh juices, beer, wine and cocktails. With indoor and outdoor seating you’ll always be searching for an excuse to head over there.
HAPPY FACE - Nothing sparks more joy than biting into a super cheesy wood fired pizza… I suppose that’s where the name must come from! Happy Face’s dough is allowed to ferment for 72 hours before being baked to perfection to create a fluffy base for their glorious Neapolitan style pizzas. To top it all off, the pizzas start from £5 meaning you’ll have a happy face and a happy wallet too.
GREAT FOOD + GREAT COMPANY
CARAVAN - An icon of King’s Cross, the menu is inspired by the philosophy of “well-travelled” food that celebrates flavours from around the world. Overlooking Granary Square, Caravan was the first restaurant to open its doors after the redevelopment of the area and has been a firm favourite ever since.
CASA PASTOR - This vibrant and playful venue plays host to some of Mexico’s finest dishes. Serving fresh homemade tortillas inspired by Mexico City, the menu is overflowing with tacos, tostadas, and quesadillas. This restaurant is perfect for those big family gatherings, offering plenty of sharing plates and even live music.
KIMCHEE - Korean food has never been so good. Taking traditional recipes and adding a contemporary twist, the menu is split into rice dishes, noodles, ‘pot’ and BBQ. Visit on a hot summer day and you’ll get to take in their sun drenched outdoor terrace in Pancras Square.
THE LIGHTERMAN - A reimagining of the quintessentially British pub, this swish modern restaurant is something special. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner as well as drinks, you’re able to enjoy great classic British food anytime. SUPAWAN - This restaurant can be summed up by their mantra; ‘Kin Dee, Yuu Dee, Mee Suk.’ Literally translated to ‘Eat Well, Live Well, Be Happy,’ it most definitely lives up to that statement.
